Balancing breath – Psychic Network Purification

Nadi Shodhana

  • Sit in a comfortable seated position with the spine, neck and head in alignment.
  • Adopt Nosetip Position (Nasagra Mudra) with the right hand and place the left hand on the knee in chin or jnana mudra.

  • Softly press the right nostril using right thumb and inhale and exhale 5 times from left nostril.
  • After the 5 natural breaths, release the right nostril and press left nostril with ring finger
  • Inhale and exhale 5 times through the right.
  • Then lower the hand and breathe 5 times through both nostrils together.
  • This makes one round, practice up to 5 rounds.

  • Close the right nostril with the thumb and inhale through the left nostril.
  • Then block the left nostril and exhale out the right.
  • Inhale through the right, release the pressure from the left nostril, block the right nostril and exhale out the left. Continue alternate nostril breathing for up to 10 minutes.

  • The flow of breath in the nostrils.
  • Ajna chakra.

  • Colds and flus.
  • Fever.

  • Improves breathing capacity.
  • Strengthens the lungs.
  • Develops body balance and clarity of mind.
  • Purifies the nervous system.
  • Calms the mind.

  • Once established, ratios of equal inhalation and exhalation can be utilized.

  • Ensure both nostrils are clear and free flowing. If the nostrils are blocked, practice Breathing balancing pose (Padadhirasana).
